Optional Wallet assistance

Turn Wallet activity into a useful payday plan.

Your account shows what happened. A payday plan helps you see what is still ahead. With an eligible connected current account, Sam can use Wallet balance and activity to help you review bills and income, then plan around your next payday.

1. Check the account you use for everyday planning

Start with your principal current account. Sam uses one eligible account for its planning balance; it is not a view of all your bank accounts.

In Apple Wallet, open its card and look for Get Started, or open More → Card Details → Get Account Balance & Activity. If available, follow your issuer’s connection and consent steps. See Apple’s connected-account instructions.

Having that option does not guarantee Sam compatibility. Sam needs usable balance and transaction activity from an eligible current account, in a supported region and with your permission. An Apple Pay card alone is insufficient.

Supplied activity can include regular bills, income, Direct Debits and standing orders; it need not have been paid using Apple Pay. What is available depends on the account and provider. Check Sam’s Wallet requirements.

2. Review what belongs in your plan

Choose your planning cycle, then review the regular activity your eligible account supplies. Check each proposed name, amount, frequency and date against what you expect. Edit the details, leave out anything unsuitable and add missing commitments yourself.

A selected suggestion remains a proposal until you confirm it. Available history may not reveal every regular payment. Review your starting balance, paid statuses and selected current-cycle payments before saving the plan.

See the real suggestions and bill-review screens. Paid every four weeks? Keep monthly bills on their own dates.

3. Check what remains before payday

In the live cycle, Available to Spend estimates what remains after unpaid bills and planned spending. Expected income stays separate until received. Labels can organise payments without requiring a spending limit for every category.

Use the forecast to explore how dated payments and expected income affect the plan. A projected balance depends on the information recorded; Sam does not reserve or move your money.

Explore a forecast and the payment behind a selected day.

4. Keep the plan useful as payments happen

Open Check bank to compare the plan with the balance available from Wallet. Review any explanation and check whether the payments are already recorded before applying financial changes.

A planned bill was already allowed for. Recording its payment can reduce the balance and remove the unpaid commitment while leaving Available to Spend unchanged. The same bill should not reduce spending room twice.

Regular bills and income keep their schedules for future occurrences. Review changes and one-off exceptions as they arise.

Wallet data can be delayed. The time Sam last checked is different from the bank’s latest data time, and Sam cannot make your bank update sooner. Read the refresh guidance or see a completed check-in, from review to the saved result.

5. Continue manually whenever you need to

If Wallet is unavailable or you prefer not to connect, enter your balance, bills, income and planned spending yourself. Update paid and received statuses as payments happen, then review the remaining cycle.

Manual planning includes Available to Spend, forecasts and Analytics. Your first useful plan does not depend on importing years of history. Build a complete manual plan.
